Fees & charges

Legal work is expensive but necessary to protect yourself and your family in the next chapter of your life and for the long term. It is a one-off cost at a point in time that may make a significant difference to your future.

You will decide our level of involvement in your matter based on the advice that we will share with you, from an all-encompassing service to ad hoc advice at key moments of your journey into Family law, the choice will be yours.

We do not undertake any work without your prior consent.

We value transparency and aim to provide you with a clear estimate of any potential fees at every stage of your matter. We welcome ongoing discussions about your legal costs and we work with you to keep your legal fees as manageable as possible without jeopardizing the outcome you are seeking.

Ongoing assistance from paralegal $190

All work is charged by the minute pro-rata of the hourly rates listed.

Documents

When matters are contained and parties have already reached an agreement in principle, we can provide fixed fees at the end of our initial consultation for the following types of work:
Divorce $1,000 – $2,000
Consent Orders $4,000 – $5,000
Consent Orders (parenting AND property) $6,000 – $10,000
Parenting Plan Approx. $1,500
Binding Financial Agreement $3,950 – $5,000
Complex Binding Financial Agreement $6,000 – $10,000
Simple Will $950

These costs do not include any disbursement and filing fees, which will be confirmed with you upfront.

Negotiations and Representations

Our hourly rates will apply and we will provide an estimate of the cost of obtaining an outcome in your matter based on our initial consultation with you and reviewing relevant documentation.

For instance, a half-day simple parenting mediation may represent 3 to 4 hours of preparation, 4 hours of assistance during mediation, and 2 to 3 hours of drafting documents if an agreement is reached at mediation.

Taking your instructions and drafting all relevant documents to initiate /respond to an initiating application and file with the Court may represent around 20 hours of work.

These are only examples and we will inform you of a realistic estimate before committing to any course of action.
